Key Dates and Information for 2027

  1. The INF General Assembly will be held on the 1st July 2027.
  2. The 9th World Naginata Championship
    • The 9th World Naginata Championships will be held on the 3rd of July 2027 in Tokyo. The exact venue is yet to be confirmed.
    • Competitions
      • Team – Men’s Division, Women’s Division. 3 members per team.
      • Individual Matches – Men’s Division, Women’s Division. 3 entries per nation for each division
      • Engi – Shikake Oji
        • Designated Shikake-Oji – 2, 3, and 6.
        • Each nation can enter 2 pairs. Pairs may be 2 women, 2 men, or 1 woman and 1 man.
      • Engi – Zen Nihon (All Japan) Naginata no Kata
        • Designated All Japan Naginata Kata forms – 2, 4, and 5.
        • Each nation can enter 2 pairs. Pairs may be 2 women, 2 men, or 1 woman and 1 man.
        • Public Demonstration – Rhythm Naginata
          • 2 or more participants
    • Deadline for entry: 30th April 2027
    • The registration form will be released in September 2026.
  3. Goodwill Tournament Summary
    • The Goodwill Tournament will be held on the 4th July 2027, Tokyo. The exact venue is yet to be determined
    • Competition – Men’s Division, Women’s Division.
    • Each nation can enter up to 5 participants in each division.
    • An additional naginata inspection session will be held on the 3rd July following the conclusion of the 9th Naginata World Championship from 5pm-7pm.
    • Deadline for entry 30th April 2027.
  4. INF Seminar
    • The seminar will be held on the 5th, 6th, and the 7th July 2027 in Kanto, Tokyo. The exact venue is yet to be confirmed.
    • Fee: JPY ¥30,000 (accommodation/lunch not included)
  5. Examination
    • 1st to 4th Dan (shodan to yondan)
    • 6th and 7th July 2027
    • Deadline for entry 30th April 2027.
    • 50 kata naginata rental available for seminar on a first in first served basis.
  6. Shimpan Training Course
    • The Shimpan Training Course will be held on the 4th-7th July 2027
    • Fee: JPY ¥30,000
    • Examination to be held on the 6th-7th July 2027.
    • Deadline for entry 30th April 2027.
  7. Shimpan Refresher Course
    • The Shimpan Training Course will be held on the 5th-7th July 2027
    • Fee: JPY ¥30,000
    • Examination to be held on the 6th-7th July 2027.
    • Deadline for entry 30th April 2027.
  8. Grading
    • Examinees must wait for the results and if they pass, they must pay the success fee.
    • 5th Dan exams will be held on the 11th July 2027. Venue is yet to be confirmed.
